The House Energy and Commerce Committee is taking a vote on HR 594 Monday, sponsored by Texas Republican Congressman Michael C. Burgess and New York Democrat Eliot Engel. The committee describes the bill as one which will “update surveillance, research, and education activities to reflect scientific developments and continue the support of research and patient support initiatives across all forms of muscular dystrophy.”

The committee is also voting on the Sunscreen Innovation Act, HR 4250. The goal is to “streamline the FDA’s approval process for new sunscreen ingredients.” The FDA has not approved a new sunscreen component in around 20 years. Reps Ed Whitefield (R-KY) and John Dingell (D-MI) introduced the bill.
