Takeda announced the formation of a global advisory board, which includes four former executives at top pharmaceutical companies. The Takeda global advisory board (TGAB) includes Karen Katen, formerly vice chairman at Pfizer; Frank Morich, former CEO of Bayer HealthCare; Sidney Taurel, former chairman and CEO at Lilly; and Tadataka Yamada, former chairman of R&D and board of directors member at GlaxoSmithKline.
Boston Scientific’s board of directors tapped Ray Elliott as president and CEO, effective July 13. The move follows an announcement that Jim Tobin will retire from his current position as the company’s president and CEO. Boston Scientific is a global medical device maker. Elliott began his career at American Hospital Supply Corp. – now Baxter International – where he worked in various capacities for 15 years. Since then he has served as chairman, president and CEO at Zimmer Holdings, and president and CEO at Cybex International.
Marketing research and analytics firm Qforma announced four executive appointments in the company’s sales and field operations: Mark Grove, SVP, sales, new business; Dean Kleyn, VP, sales and services; Rod Anaforian, director, field operations; and Kim Foster, director, field operations. The appointments follow Qforma’s success with its “Most Influential Doctors” database, which was offered to consumers in partnership with USA Today last May.
Catalent Pharma Solutions announced the appointment of Sharon Johnson to SVP, quality and regulatory affairs. The appointment follows the planned retirement of Ed Thiele in 2010 – Johnson’s role is effective in August 2009. Johnson has worked at GE Healthcare Biosciences and Medical Diagnostics, in England, and Baxter Healthcare’s European operations. In her new position, Johnson will work out of Catalent Pharma’s Somerset, NJ, office.
