CHICAGO: CG Life has acquired New York City-based Berry & Company Public Relations.

The deal, which closed on May 6, expands the range of CG Life’s services to support clients in the biopharma and medical technology sectors, the agency said in a statement.

CG Life CEO David Ormesher said the deal for Berry & Company is the “other piece of the puzzle,” following its acquisition of digital marketing agency Toolhouse in March, which added digital capabilities in pharma to the agency’s services.

“We’re building a specialty agency that combines high science, digital technology and strategic communications to support biopharma companies that are bringing innovative therapies for rare diseases to the patients that need them,” Ormesher said. “To do that effectively, the medical, patient and payer communities need to be engaged, they need to be informed and inspired by these advancements, and that’s where Berry & Company comes in.”

Berry’s experience supporting 60 product launches, its involvement in more than 300 clinical trials and its social media practice, were drivers for adding the firm to CG Life, Ormesher said. Berr’s services include sponsored media, social media strategy and execution, content development, issues management and crisis communications with experience in rare diseases, oncology, immunology, neurological diseases and orthopedic surgery.

Berry & Company president and founder Bill Berry is serving as SVP of public relations at CG Life; principal and manager of social media services Adam Daley is transitioning to VP of social media; and principal Tim McDonough is serving as VP of finance. The agency’s team of 12 will transfer to CG Life.

Similar to Toolhouse, Berry & Company will be referred to as “a CG Life company” through the end of this year.

No client conflicts occurred as a result of the deal. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Berry & Company is a PR and communications firm founded in 1993 and headquartered in New York. The agency’s client portfolio includes biopharmaceutical company Alkermes, the nonprofit American Telemedicine Association, biotech research company Nimbus Therapeutics and gene therapy developer UniQure, according to the firm’s website.
