Prescription discount card company BuzzRx is celebrating its tenth anniversary partnering with nonprofit Make-A-Wish by donating $1 per app download this month.
Throughout the 10 years of its partnership, BuzzRx has donated up to $1 to Make-A-Wish every time someone uses the company’s prescription discount card. That has resulted in around $6.7 million in donations to Make-A-Wish since 2013, according to the company.
To mark the 10-year anniversary, BuzzRx will donate $1 for each app download, up to $10,000, throughout the month of October.
BuzzRx chairman and CEO Matthew Herfield noted in a blog post that the partnership has shown the importance of giving back to the community and rallying around an important cause.
“Granting wishes renews hope, uplifts spirits, and encourages wish kids to fight harder against their illnesses,” Herfield wrote.
In a press release, BuzzRx highlighted the story of 12-year-old Audrey to showcase how Make-A-Wish has helped children with serious illnesses.
BuzzRx provided a sparkly bee necklace and a pair of designer sunglasses from iconic fashion editor Anna Wintour on the day of Audrey’s “wish,” as part of her photoshoot.
“It’s not just a moment, or a day, it has changed Audrey’s life,” Lisa, Audrey’s mother, said.
Herfield urged other healthcare companies to forge partnerships with nonprofits to not only give back to the community, but to develop brand values as well.
“I believe more organizations should consider working with nonprofits to enhance their social and economic impact on communities, improve employee engagement and align brand values to strengthen efforts and effect change,” Herfield added. “Companies that take action and work toward making positive change are building a stronger internal community of passionate employees, partners and advocates.”
BuzzRx also holds partnerships with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the National Kidney Foundation, as well as several regional food banks. Overall, it’s donated more than $8 million to other nonprofit organizations since it was founded in 2010.
“As our reach grows, BuzzRx will continue to donate through our prescription savings card, allowing more and more children facing critical illnesses to experience their dreams and feel the love and support of their communities,” Herfield wrote.
