Being a caregiver can be demanding, not only from a mental and emotional perspective, but on the physical body as well.

With that in mind, Voltaren announced this week that it is partnering with Amanda Kloots, a fitness instructor and TV personality, to create a series of exercises to help caregivers alleviate pain.

Presented on Instagram Reels, Kloots will be creating three workout routines designed to strengthen body parts that are susceptible to pain when caregiving, such as legs and arms.

“Caregivers do so much for others, and it’s important to celebrate them and encourage them to give back to themselves through movement,” Kloots said in a statement. “I’m excited to be working with Voltaren to develop these exercise routines. All of the moves will not only be effective at keeping them moving strongly and safety, but they are also super easy to incorporate into a caregiver’s busy daily routine.”

Arthritis is a common, painful condition impacting nearly a quarter of Americans, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The agency added that it is a leading cause of work disability and leads to annual costs of care and lost earnings that exceeds $300 billion.

Beyond the partnership with Kloots, Voltaren conducted an interview series with caregivers and analyzed how they perceive value by utilizing EEG headsets that mapped their brain responses. The neuro-technology also measured their wellbeing based on brain wave changes associated with stress, excitement and relaxation.

Notably, Voltaren said caregivers experienced a 36% increase in their wellbeing after hearing from a loved one that they value their work as a caregiver.

The joint pain relief brand also said in a media release that it’s aiming to offer these simple, daily exercises to support the vast swath of unpaid caregivers nationwide.

“The physical demands of caregiving tend to go overlooked, when in reality caregiving requires a wide range of physical movements that can bring on joint pain,” said Stacey Harris, VP of marketing for Haleon’s pain segment, in a statement. “As a trusted, world leader in pain relief, Voltaren Arthritis Pain Gel is dedicated to helping people with arthritis, and is proud to support the 53 million unpaid caregivers in the U.S.”
