Chicago-based AbelsonTaylor named Sharlene Jenner as VP of engagement strategy on Wednesday morning.

An industry veteran, Jenner joined the 2022 MM+M Agency 100 honoree after an 11-year stint at Vizient, a healthcare performance improvement company, where she served as principal strategist of digital and marketing initiatives.

Prior to entering the healthcare industry, Jenner held director-level positions at a number of companies. Among those roles, Jenner was director of website and PMO management at Hilton Worldwide, as well as director of marketing, digital strategy and product development at Ampad, a Texas-based paper products company, and director of marketing at Gemmy Industries, a home decor company.

In the new role, Jenner will be charged with leading the agency’s engagement strategies through artificial intelligence enablement and other data-driven efforts. Jenner will also report to Christopher Dimmock, SVP of integrated strategy at AbelsonTaylor.

“Sharlene is passionate about developing impactful interactions through emerging technologies,” Dimmock said in a statement. “She brings leadership experience in a variety of industries including healthcare, hospitality, consumer goods, retail CPG marketing, and manufacturing. Her deep understanding of dynamic digital marketing optimization will further power our mission to provide a return on imagination for our clients.”

In addition to her professional responsibilities, Jenner is an adjunct professor of artificial intelligence and personalization at Southern Methodist University (SMU). She also serves as an advisory panel member of the Future of Work at SMU and the University of Houston Bauer College of Business mini-MBA program.

AbelsonTaylor finished off 2022 with a couple notable personnel moves, including the hiring of Rebecca Visconti as VP of marketing intelligence in November while K. Pearson Brown was named to the newly created role of director of marketing and communications in October.

Earlier in the year, the agency promoted Amy Restko, who has been with the organization since 2016, to account planning director and hired Jeremy Vannatta as VP, account director.

The agency was named to MM+M’s annual list of top marketing firms following a strong 2021, highlighted by revenues that rose 13% year-over-year to $64.8 million and the addition of 17 staffers compared to 2020.
