Golin has appointed Lisa Johnson as EVP and U.S. corporate health lead for Golin Health, a newly created position.

Johnson assumed the role in November, reporting to U.S. MD of Golin Health Jaimee Reggio. The two will partner with the agency’s senior leadership to help clients build and protect their brands, create purposeful platforms and help executives shape rapidly evolving health conversations, the Interpublic Group agency said in a statement.

“At Golin Health, we have a seasoned bench of corporate health communicators doing this important work of corporate reputation and thought leadership for many of our clients,” Reggio said. “It became really clear that as our work continued to evolve and the complexities of the world took shape, that we needed to evolve our leadership team as well as bring on a seasoned leader to help drive this team and build this team to address the needs coming in from our clients.”

In the new role, Johnson will work with a team of earned media, influencer, social media, creative and data and analytics specialists dedicated to Golin Health’s roster of clients. She will also work to align strategies with U.S. corporate practice lead Sarah Vellozzi to create synergies and efficiencies across the corporate comms and healthcare teams.

Based in New York, Johnson is overseeing the corporate health team of about a dozen members.

“[The role is] really to formalize what they are doing right now into a more structured offering, not just for our clients, but for other companies who are looking for similar expertise and counsel,” Johnson said. “As a starting point, I’ll be collaborating with Sarah and her team to create a similar structure on the healthcare side.”

Johnson previously served as SVP of M Booth Health since 2019. Prior to that, she worked as SVP of Corkery Group Unlimited. Next 15 acquired the U.S. division of Health Unlimited, including specialist consultancy Corkery Group, in 2019, rebranding it as M Booth Health.

An M Booth Health representative could not be reached for comment about Johnson’s replacement.

Golin debuted Golin Health in early October. The IPG agency’s healthcare work includes a campaign for Siemens about COVID-19 testing and a myopia awareness campaign on behalf of pharmaceutical companies. The practice brought on Kimberly Brock as health equity lead in April, as well as its first creative director, Smitha Piedilato, in June 2022.

Reggio, a Golin veteran of almost 15 years, said she’s never been more excited about the state of the agency’s health team, following an “incredible year of growth.” Golin’s health practice nearly doubled at a 40% year-over-year revenue increase in the U.S. in 2022, contributing to nearly a quarter of Golin’s global revenue.

The agency reported a revenue increase of 11% overall to $355 million globally and 13% to $225 million in the U.S. in 2022, according to PRWeek’s 2023 Agency Business Report. Golin was named one of PRWeek’s 2023 Best Places to Work this month.

The agency purchased the U.K.-based communications firm Virgo Health in 2012.
