Bill Frist, the Senate majority leader, is likely to face a fine for not meeting Tennessee’s mandatory CME requirement, the AP reported.While suspension of his license is unlikely, Frist is expected to be fined $40 for every hour of CME he lacks and will have to make up the incomplete hours. Tennessee requires physicians with the MD and DO degree alike to complete 40 hours of CME every two years in order to maintain licensure. Frist was a well-known heart-lung surgeon before coming to the Senate in 1995.
