Karina Castagna joined OptimizeRx with the desire to help patients access life-saving medicines by expanding physician and provider access. She succeeded through a combination of tactics, such as increasing digitalization in order to help move drug manufactures away from manual processes, streamlining patient intake and increasing digital communications between providers and pharma field teams. This strategy has led to a 300% increase in prescriptions initiated through its hub and a 60% increase in prior authorization submissions by HCPs to get their patients on a life-changing diabetes medication. 

Another innovation was establishing Amgen’s first pharmacy team focused on helping patients and doctors navigate reimbursement hurdles, resulting in tens of thousands of new patient starts. By tweaking the launch of a new migraine drug, Castagna was able to reduce the launch budget by about 60%, resulting in tens of millions of dollars saved.
