PhRMA members elected Pfizer’s Jeff Kindler board chairman for 2010-2011 and Sanofi-Aventis’ Chris Viehbacher as chairman-elect. Kindler, who has led PhRMA’s pro-healthcare reform faction, succeeds AstraZeneca chief David Brennan as head of the trade group’s board. Lilly chief John Lechleiter was elected board treasurer, putting him next in the line of succession behind Viehbacher for the post, which rotates annually.

Bausch & Lomb named Fred Hassan chairman of the board and Brent Saunders CEO. Hassan was chairman and CEO of Schering-Plough until its merger with Merck late last year. Saunders was SCP and president of Schering-Plough’s consumer healthcare unit. They replace chairman and CEO Gerald Ostrov, who is retiring.
