Quinnova Pharmaceuticals announced the commercial launch of Tersi Foam, (2.25% selenium sulfide) for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis and tinea versicolor of the skin.

TopoTarget has announced that its Totect chemotherapy treatment has been approved by the FDA for marketing in the US. In October 2006, Totect was launched in Europe under the Savene brand. Totect is used as a therapy when anthracycline, intravenously administered, accidentally leaks into the surrounding healthy tissue. Anthracyclines are chemotherapeutic agents used to treat a large number of cancers including breast cancer and leukaemia.

The FDA has approved Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals’ version of carvedilol tablets, a beta blocker used to treat mild to severe heart failure. Total annual sales of the brand name equivalent of the drug, Coreg by GlaxoSmithKline, were $1.6 billion through June 2007, according to figures from IMS.
