Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories reduced its workforce by approximately 350 employees, after FDA seized much of its inventory, based on manufacturing defects. The 350 layoffs represent a little over half of the company’s entire work force, reportedly 670 employees prior to the layoffs.
French ophthalmic optical products manufacturer Essilor acquired Barnet & Ramel Optical, Apex Optical, ABBA Optical and Vision Pointe Optical in the US, as well as a majority stake in OptiSource International. The company is also extending its reach in Europe and the Middle East, acquiring De Ceunynck in Belgum, and Amico in Dubai.
