Cell Biosciences, a private life sciences company focused on protein and biomarketer research, will acquire Alpha Innotech Corp, a high-sensitivity digital imaging systems manufacturer, for $17.9 million. The acquisition will expand Cell Biosciences’ protein analysis business to include a global infrastructure and a broad protein analysis product portfolio, according to a statement. Cell Biosciences’ lead product candidate is CB1000, a nanfluidic immunoassay platform designed for detecting proteins in small biological samples, such as small tumor biopsies and stem cells.

Neoprobe Corporation, a developer of oncology surgical and diagnostic products, and Laureate Pharma, a biopharma development and protein production company, announced a manufacturing alliance, or a biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing agreement. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
