Welcome to the new-look version of mmm-online.com! I invite you to explore the site.

Not only does this website look quite different from its predecessor from the outside, but under the hood, it’s packed with a number of smart features engineered to improve your experience, on both desktop and mobile.

The first thing we hope you’ll notice is the improved design and user interface, which allow more space for content and imagery. We also freshened up the typography, with new fonts for headlines and article copy. See if you agree–browse the day’s news, Top 5 Things, and the archive.

When you do, you’ll also see that, while we maintained basic navigation (we intended for most of you to feel right at home), we made a few tweaks to accommodate users’ various viewing preferences.

For instance, the main menu of choices (News, In-Depth, Resources, and more) present as drop-down lists; click those same menu choices and access further choices via section pages. Viewing pages on mobile? All is responsive now.

In addition to sharper presentations of our journalism, advertising also gets an improved look. As well, partner content has its own section now, for easier access, and native options remain.

Performance-wise, we’re encouraged by what we’ve seen from early testing.

One thing I can comment on: changes made to the search functionality promise to bring you quicker, more thorough results as search looks at not just content, like posts and slideshows, but also pages.

Behind much of this improved functionality is our move to WordPress. On the backend, an improved authoring experience will allow the MM&M editorial team to update our readers in a more timely manner. We’ll also be able to take advantage of a variety of features to present content, known as plug-ins, as they become available.

All told, I’m happy to report that this more flexible system should allow for a vastly improved experience for you, our reader. Credit goes to our Content Hub team, which worked seamlessly with web development and editorial to make it happen.

After poking around, please let me know what you think. And just a reminder for News Brief subscribers: due to the changeover, today’s newsletter won’t arrive until this afternoon.
