The DIA and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association formalized a multi-year partnership to advance the careers of women involved in the regulatory, medical, legal and compliance functions of healthcare. The DIA/HBA Leadership Project is being led by a steering committee of senior-level women from pharma, biotech and medical device companies. The initiative was launched at DIA’s annual meeting in June.

GlaxoSmithKline said it has begun shipping the first lots of seasonal flu vaccine to CDC distribution centers and US healthcare providers, following approval of this season’s GSK seasonal influenza vaccines by the FDA. The company markets two: FluLaval (approved for use in adults) and Fluarix (for adult and pediatric use). GSK said that for the 2012-2013 flu season, two of the three strains have been changed compared to last year’s formulation.

PDR Network said its drug information will be incorporated into NewCrop’s electronic prescribing platform, thanks to a new partnership between the two firms. NewCrop users will access the information through PDR BRIEF, a real-time digital messaging platform designed to provide short drug-specific messages at the point of prescribing. PDR said 21 other EHR vendors also incorporate its product support services and information, which include updated drug information, safety alerts, as well as medication adherence and product support programs.
