The Coalition for Healthcare Communication issued a statement in response to Rep. Henry Waxman’s assault on pharmaceutical company’s distribution of journal articles to doctors, saying: “To suggest, as Congressman Waxman does, that healthcare practitioners and the public cannot rely on peer-reviewed journal articles as a reliable source of medical information flies in the face of decades-long practice. Like democracy, peer review is not perfect. But peer review is by far the best system available to vet new ideas in medical practice.”
