During the dark early months of the pandemic, so many people flocked to virtual care that pundits started to question whether they’d ever return to physical offices. But when physicians came back — in many parts of the country, they never left — so, too, did their patients. What was initially considered an acceleration in demand for virtual care was quickly recast as a response to a very specific set of circumstances.
Virtual care hasn’t retreated to its pre-pandemic levels, of course. To judge its staying power two-and-a-half years later, the Deloitte Center for Technology, Media and Communications included a handful of questions about virtual care in the 2022 edition of its flagship Connectivity and Mobile Trends study. Here’s what people who attended at least one virtual care appointment in the past year, whether as a patient or with a patient, had to say about their experiences.
