WebMD has acquired event, communications and medical education company Frontline Medical Communications.

The acquisition will combine Frontline’s services with WebMD’s physician-focused website, Medscape, WebMD said in a statement. The companies will continue to operate independently, but will integrate and build shared platforms and services.

Frontline provides advertising services for its various medical communications platforms, including web platform MDedge, live and virtual events, medical publications, branded content and digital services like webcasts, microsites and apps. The company has physician networks in more than 20 specialties.

WebMD and Medscape are both owned by Internet Brands.
