Conceptus, a Mountain View, CA-based company that developed a non-surgical permanent birth control procedure, has hired Sam Trujillo, formerly of Bayer, where he headed women’s healthcare. Trujilo is EVP marketing at Conceptus, reporting to president and CEO Mark Sieczkarek.

Publicis Healthcare Communications Group promoted Sam Welch to president of North America advertising and tapped chief development officer Linda Szyper to lead the network’s Strategy and Analytics Group and Cortex Healthcare Marketing. Welch was previously COO for North America, having risen through the ranks at Saatchi & Saatchi. In addition to heading North American ad agencies, he will “work to enhance and embed the capabilities of Integrated Services and In-Sync into PHCG’s global offering,” said a PHCG release.

Burson-Marsteller named Melissa Grigorieff Koomey managing director and head of the West Coast healthcare practice. Koomey joins the PR shop from FibroGen, a research-based biotech where she was VP marketing, investor relations and corporate communications. She will be based in San Francisco and report to global health practice chair Helene Ellison.
