New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has closed some streets to allow for more social distancing and may close parks and playgrounds to combat the pandemic. The city has more than 17,000 coronavirus cases. Nearly half the COVID-19 cases in the U.S. are in New York state. (Reuters)

People under 45 years old make up nearly half of coronavirus cases in New York City. However, only 3% of these cases result in fatalities. Men make up 56% of cases and 61% of deaths. Eighteen percent are being hospitalized, twice the global average. (CNBC)

Ventilator demand is 10 times higher than what’s available in the world currently, according to China’s top medical device maker Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics. Hospitals may need one ventilator per critically-ill patient. President Donald Trump has approved Tesla to manufacture ventilators in the meantime. (Bloomberg)
