We’re close to the finding out who the first ever Cannes Lions Health award winners will be, after the shortlists for both the Pharma and Health & Wellness categories were announced earlier today.

The 25 Lions Health jury members spent much of this week reviewing 1,423 submissions. The Pharma jury, led by McCann Health global chief creative officer, Jeremy Perrott (pictured), shortlisted 66 pieces of work from an initial 517 entries; while the Health & Wellness group, headed up by Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness global chief creative officer, Kathy Delaney, advanced 142 campaigns from 906 submissions.

In the Pharma category, the US was represented by 11 shortlisted pieces, including professional campaigns from GSW (Endo Pharmaceuticals Fortesta gel) and Ogilvy Entertainment (Philips CX50 Ultrasound); and consumer work by Wunderman RTC (Biogen Idec MSInspiration films for Tysabri), GSW (Stryker GetAroundKnee) and Digitas Health Lifebrands (Gilead Sciences “HIV: what’s going on inside your body”).

The Health & Wellness section yielded US 12 finalists US, including Publicis Kaplan Thaler (P&G for Zzzzquil, Crest/Oral B, Scope), JWT (J&J for Zyrtec and Band Aids), GSW (GlaxoSmithKline Singapore for Eye Mo), Arnold Worldwide (Truth) and BBDO Atlanta (American Red Cross babysitter courses).

The jurors’ role today was to discuss which entries will go on to win prizes. Who will win the first ever Gold Lion and Grand Prix awards for health? All the winners will be revealed at tomorrow’s big awards ceremony, which starts at 2pm EST. Check back here for the results.
