MANUFACTURERSImClone chairman David Kies has resigned effective immediately, according to published reports today. ImClone board member William Crouse has also stepped down, published reports said. Genentech has announced the appointment of Leonard Kanavy to VP, commercial operations, and the promotion of Anthony Hurley to VP, fill/finish manufacturing. New River Pharmaceuticals has hired Garen Manvelian as chief medical officer. Manvelian joins New River from SkyePharma, where he has served since 2000 as senior director, clinical and medical affairs. AGENCIESStratagem Healthcare Communications has hired Melody Javaheri as account supervisor on the CoTherix account. Javaheri joins Stratagem after six years with Cline, Davis & Mann where she served as senior account executive on the Xolair and Genentech and Novartis pharmaceutical accounts with additional work for the Viagra, Zithromax, Glucotrol, Norvasc and Rebif accounts.AbelsonTaylor hired Amy Blevins as senior copywriter and Yuliya Dick as art director. Blevins joins AbelsonTaylor brings 13 years of writing and editing experience to her new position.  She will report to creative director Janet Kleve and work primarily on the diabetes drug Byetta (exenatide injection), marketed by Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company. Dick will work on a variety of accounts at AbelsonTaylor and report to Rob Kienle, vice president and creative director. Pace has announced three new appointments.  Neil Drucker will serve as EVP, business development, Donna Wolff has been hired as EVP, director, medical strategy, and Suketu Patel as assistant medical director.  Most recently Drucker served as executive director, client services at Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Innovations.  Prior to joining Pace, Wolff was EVP, scientific strategist for Grey Healthcare Group. Patel has a PhD in cell biology and anatomy from the Chicago Medical School. He has clinical experience in internal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine and pediatrics.  SUPPLIERSSK&A Information Services has announced four new hires. Scott Olson and Tom McCulloh will both serve as senior account managers.  Olson will focus on the pharmaceutical and CME markets. McCulloh will represent SK&A to list brokers nationally out of SK&A’s Tarrytown, New York office.  Gidget Herrier has been hired as director of business development for SK&A’s CPR – Custom Primary Research – product.  Herrier has extensive experience working with pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as over eight years with Wolters Kluwer.  Jack Schember, most recently marketing manager for Melissa Data, has been hired as director of marketing.  Schember will be based in the Irvine headquarters, reporting to Chris Lundgren, EVP of sales & marketing.
