Eisai Inc. has recently made two new appointments to its staff. Paul Saatsoglou joins as the new senior director, market research and business analytics. His prior experience includes positions at IMS Management Consulting, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Janssen and Pfizer. David Trexler will serve as director, new products portfolio. Before moving to Eisai Inc., Trexler worked at Mylan Bertek and Marion Laboratories now Sanofi-Aventis), where he pent 18 years.

Caudex Medical and Scientific Frontiers Inc., U.S., part of McCann Healthcare Worldwide, has named Tom Drake as general manager, and Emmanuelle Hugentobler as SVP, medical director. Prior to joining Caudex Medical and Scientific Frontiers, Drake was with Dorland Global Health Communications, and Hugentobler was management supervisor with Torre Lazur McCann.

Bryan Carson has joined S&R Communications Group, a full-service healthcare marketing and communications company, as account group director and team leader on the UCB Pharma and Prestwick Pharmaceuticals accounts. Carson previously served as director of marketing for Glaxo Wellcome, and most recently as executive director of neurology marketing at Mylan Bertek Pharmaceuticals.

Publicis Groupe has appointed Jack Klues as chairman of Publicis Group Media (PGM), the management board that oversees the company’s media buying and counsel activities. Klues is the founder and previous CEO of Starcom Mediavest Group (SMG), one of the two media buying networks owned by Publicis — the other is Zenith-Optimedia.

Renetta McCann, previously CEO of Starcom’s Americas unit, will take over as Starcom CEO.

Saatchi & Saatchi Canada has named Canadian Brett Channer as chief executive. Channer, who has been with the Saatchi team since May 2004, is one of only a handful of Canadians to have won a Gold Lion award. Channer has worked for such agencies as DMBB, TBWA Chiat Day, GEE Jeffrey and Partner, and Young & Rubicam. Additionally, Johann Xavier, who has been with the company for more than 10 years has been appointed as the new COO  from his prior position as CFO. Xavier joined Saatchi & Saatchi from McKim Advertising, part of the Omnicom Group, and also spent time at KMPG.

Palio Communications has added Jon Hussey, Leanne Keough and  Ajay Nair to their team. Hussey, joining the agency as VP/account director, brings strong global pharmaceutical marketing experience to the company. Hussey comes to Palio from Pfizer, where he most recently
served as senior marketing manager for Viagra. Keough, filling the position of studio writer, served as assistant manager at Crane and Company before moving to Palio. Nair, a new account director, was most recently an account supervisor at Euro RSCG Life.

GSW Worldwide, a leading global healthcare advertising agency, recently named Dr. Jonathan Sackier chief strategic medical officer. Sackier is responsible for driving innovative medical insights and opportunities across GSW Worldwide’s clients’ brands, as well as contributing to the company’s new business efforts. Doctor Sackier brings more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare, medical and marketing
industries.

Adient has announced the addition of two senior management personnel: Joseph Maynard as EVP, managing director, and Christine Maikisch as SVP, operations. Maynard, previously general manager for the eastern medical-education business unit at Cardinal Health, will be responsible for the development and maintenance of key client relationships. Maikisch will be responsible for supervising traffic, editorial, studio and production. Before joining Adient, Maikisch freelanced in the traffic department at Carbon.
