Genzyme named William “Bill” Sibold as head of multiple sclerosis and Rogério Vivaldi as head of rare diseases, two businesses the firm says constitute its core focus following the integration with Sanofi. Sibold joined from Avanir Pharmaceuticals, where he was chief commercial officer. Prior to Avanir, he was SVP of US commercial for Biogen Idec and also had headed its Asia Pacific region. Vivaldi joined Genzyme in 1997 and has held posts of increasing responsibility, most recently president of the firm’s renal and endocrine business and SVP/president of its Latin America region.
