Winning a place on formularies in the hospital marketplace may not require face time with a physician, research from Best Practices reveals.
“We expect that hospitals’ senior managers will take on a more important role in the eyes of the pharmaceutical sales force,” said Cameron Tew, senior manager, research and publishing at Best Practices.
According to the study, pharmacy and therapeutic committee (P&T) members are the key formulary decision-makers for both hospital networks and local hospitals—not senior administrative staff such as CEOs and COOs.  “At this time, the cost and difficulty involved in targeting them outweighs their value as formulary influencers,” says Tew.
