Born into an advertising family, Tim Hawkey intended to forge a path away from the industry. After studying biology and organic chemistry, he discovered in healthcare advertising a space where he could merge his love of science with his knack for creativity. As chief creative officer at Area 23, Hawkey is spearheading the movement of redefining what creativity means in healthcare advertising. Under his leadership, the agency has achieved unprecedented growth and received the highest industry honors, including Clios, three Grands Prix at Cannes Lions, and Healthcare Agency of the Year at Cannes Lions in 2017 and 2020/2021.

Hawkey recognizes that creative is strongest when people from diverse backgrounds are contributing and has worked to increase Black creative representation. He is a member of the D&AD Impact Council, where he serves as a master class instructor and student mentor for D&AD New Blood program.
