An Indianapolis biotech company has caught the eye of pharma giant Eli Lilly. The startup, BioCritica, has already signed a licensing agreement with Lilly for the rights to sell Xigris, a newly FDA-approved drug indicated for severe sepsis. BioCritica is expected to create up to 70 new jobs by 2015 and the company plans to begin hiring this summer, according to a release by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).

Pharma and healthcare market research firm Manhattan Research has today released data from a digital study conducted in the BRIC region – Brazil, Russia, India and China – that sheds light upon physician utilization of social networks and online communities as a professional resource. While adoption of online communities was found to be more moderate in China and Brazil than in Russia or India, the study found that such networks give physicians the opportunity to connect with their peers in these geographically expansive markets in a way that was nearly impossible to achieve before the communities were available.
