Dole kicks off second leg of Medicare drug benefit speaking tour

Former Kansas Senator Bob Dole was in Washington D.C. yesterday to kick off the second leg of a Pfizer-sponsored nationwide speaking tour to help educate seniors about the new Medicare prescription drug benefit.
The Bob Dole on Medicare campaign will focus on "Ten Things Seniors Need to Know about Medicare's New Prescription Drug Coverage," a non-branded educational pamphlet produced by Pfizer. The brochure aims to explain the details of the Medicare drug benefit to seniors.
The campaign kicked off in early 2004, however today marks Dole's first speaking appearance since last summer.
Dole is expected to greet seniors twice more in 2005, in Virginia in July and in Orlando, Fla. in August, to ramp up the campaign's activities before open enrollment for the benefit begins in November. "Pfizer, like Senator Dole, understands the importance of educating seniors and people living with disabilities about the changes to Medicare and is working with local and national partners to provide information to people who would most benefit from the new Medicare drug coverage," Pfizer spokeswoman Darlene Taylor told MM&M.
The Bob Dole on Medicare campaign is not the first time Dole has worked with Pfizer in an effort to reach out to consumers. In the late 90s, Dole served as a pitch man for Pfizer's drug Viagra, appearing in television commercials for the erectile dysfunction drug.
