The Zovirax (acyclovir) ointment Web site, along with a consumer STD awareness deck card, misleadingly suggest to consumers that the GlaxoSmithKline product may prevent transmission of genital herpes infections, according to an FDA Warning Letter. The agency says that neither substantial evidence nor clinical experience have demonstrated this claim.
