Roche is investing $135 million in two manufacturing sites. Reuters reports the Swiss drugmaker’s plans are “bucking a trend of cost-cutting by other big pharmaceutical companies.”

The money will be divided between a new Basel plant and refurbishing an existing one. Reuters notes the expansion is also the the opposite narrative of what’s going on at “cross-town rival Novartis,” which announced in January it was going to close a US plant and lay off around 500 pharma division employees.
