HealthiNation is beefing up its health and wellness content with a slate of four new shows as the online health video company seeks to move beyond medical content.

“Traditionally, we’ve been more focused on our medical education vertical,” said Raj Amin, CEO of HealthiNation. “We continue to grow in that market, but we’ve realized that the opportunities for our company are much broader. Wellness allows us to go after healthy eating and parenting topics instead of just being there for people when they have a medical condition.”

The new shows include: The Essentials, “an upbeat educational series that cracks the code…surrounding the vitamins, nutrients and compounds contained in the foods we eat”; Simple Smoothies; Kitchen Crashers, “a reality-style ‘nutrition makeover’ series in which a HealthiNation nutritionist crashes the junk food party and shows real families how to incorporate healthier food into their lives”; and Babyhood Basics, a show for new moms.
The shows will be housed at www.healthination.com as well as the company’s partner sites, which the company says reach 40 million unique users and 32 million TV households.

The company is also running a “Color Your Plate” sweepstakes, tied into the American Diatetic Association’s National Nutrition Month, through its Facebook page. Visitors can get healthy eating tips, participate in quizzes on fruits and veggies and enter for a chance to win prizes including an iPad 2. The sweepstakes runs through April 15.
