The American Academy of Family Physicians relaunched its FamilyDoctor.org site with a smoother layout and navigation, and tools and features to help improve health literacy and make it easier for users to find information. With 5 million visits per month, the site gets more than 150,000 unique visits per day. Additions include: an English- and Spanish-language text-to-audio tool for visually impaired speakers and those with limited health literacy; rehabilitation exercise animations to help patients perform the exercises correctly; and Questions to Ask Your Doctor, a feature that accompanies each disease and health condition on the site.

The AMA launched a consumer app, My Medications, designed to allow patients to store, carry and share their medical information. The app is available through iTunes for 99 cents.

HealthiNation added Cablevision to its stable of cable On Demand partners, increasing its distribution to 35 million cable households.

Siemens Healthcare acquired MobileMD, a Yardley, PA-based provider of health information exchange solutions that serves more than two dozen HIEs composed of 110 hospitals and 2,000 physician practices.
