Following a review, Harvard Medical School and the affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital levied sanctions against three psychiatrists accused by Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) of breaking COI rules.
The three, who issued an apology, must refrain from all paid industry-sponsored outside activities for a year, followed by a two-year monitoring period during which such activities require pre-approval.
In 2008, Grassley said the three did not disclose the full amount they had earned from drug companies over the previous seven years. The physicians admitted an “honest” mistake in not reporting industry-sponsored activities, as required.
