Outpatient mental health care provider LifeStance Health today debuted “No Face,” a campaign designed to reduce stigma around seeking treatment for depression, bipolar disorder and other mental health conditions. The effort features portraits shot by renowned photographer Mark Seliger, who sought to highlight the differences between an individual’s external appearance and internal experience.

“Visually, I wanted to illustrate the sense of connection to every subject and show the wide and varied spectrum of individuals’ experiences,” Seliger said in a statement. “Photography allows for a connection to the viewer and a deeper storytelling behind the portrait, and I thought I could bring a different perspective to how mental health conditions are framed.”

LifeStance co-founder and chief growth officer Danish Qureshi said the company is focused on increasing access to mental health care as well as destigmatizing treatment for mental health conditions. “Our goal with the ‘No Face’ campaign is to challenge assumptions about mental health conditions and bring broader awareness to the diversity of experiences,” he said in the statement.

As part of the social push behind “No Face,” LifeStance is asking people to upload a selfie on Instagram and append it with the #Not1Face hashtag. For every post, the company’s foundation will donate $5 to the Mental Health Coalition, up to $250,000.
