Omnicom Group’s PR firms posted an organic revenue decrease of 1.1% in Q1 to $390.3 million.

The results compare to Q1 2023, where organic revenue rose 5.8% to $375.5 million. The firms within Omnicom PR Group include FleishmanHillard, Ketchum, Marina Maher Communications and Porter Novelli.

OPRG CEO Chris Foster could not be immediately reached for further comment on the PR agencies’ performances. Representatives for Porter Novelli, MMC and FleishmanHillard deferred to an Omnicom representative when asked for comment on the agency’s individual performances. Ketchum could not be reached for comment.

Omnicom saw organic revenue growth across a majority of its business sectors in Q1. Advertising and media posted a revenue increase of 7% to $1.9 billion, precision marketing was up 4.3% to $438.2 million, healthcare rose by 2.1% to $323.6 million and experiential increased 9.5% to $159.9 million. 

Alongside PR, branding and retail commerce decreased 3.8% to $200.2 million and execution and support dropped 4.3% to $211.5 million. 

Omnicom as a whole reported global revenue of $3.6 billion in Q1, up 4% organically from the same period in 2023. The holding company’s growth was led by “continued strength” in its advertising and media and precision marketing disciplines, Omnicom chairman and CEO John Wren said in a statement. 

U.S. organic revenue rose 4.3% to $1.9 billion in Q1; other North America regions jumped 1.1% to $115 million; and the U.K. was up 3.2% to $403.2 million.

European markets jumped by 3.5% to $602.6 million; Asia-Pacific was up by 3% to $407.7 million; Latin America improved by 22.3% to $96.5 million; and the Middle East and Africa decreased by 4.2% to $79.6 million.

2023 saw leadership changes at two of OPRG’s agencies. Marina Maher stepped down as CEO of MMC, succeeded by Olga Fleming. David Bentley also stepped down as CEO of Porter Novelli, and was replaced by Jillian Janaczek.

Ketchum laid off more than 20 employees in November, one month after its partnership with Fidelity Investments ended. FleishmanHillard began transitioning away from communications work for AT&T in January.
