Finn Partners has promoted John Bianchi to partner and head of editorial services for the agency’s global health practice, effective June 5.

Bianchi reports to senior partner and global head of client engagement and growth Michael Heinley. He will oversee editorial programs in the growing Finn Health Editorial Services group within Finn’s global health practice, consisting of a team of five experienced writers of diverse backgrounds worldwide.

The group has been a work in progress the last few years, but the creation of Bianchi’s new role shows a concentrated effort in moving the practice forward.

“We want to get to a point where we’re able to disseminate what we know to others in the organization so that people who are coming in or newer employees are able to gain the benefit of experience that we have,” Bianchi said.

The team works tangentially with members of the agency’s science editorial team with some writers overlapping between the two. Writers include former journalists from national print and broadcast news and social media outlets and those who have worked for major drug manufacturers, biotech innovators, research institutions and health systems.

The promotion recognizes Bianchi for his leadership and contributions to the Finn Health Editorial Services team, responsible for providing strategic guidance and high-quality content to support clients’ reputations, thought leadership and brand-related communications, the agency said in a statement.

Of his work, Bianchi said that every day he gets a “new project to work on from a different source from a different client or a different division within the company. There’s always something that’s engaging and interesting to work on from the standpoint of editing and writing.”

Bianchi previously held the title of VP and head of editorial services for health. He joined Finn Partners in 2014 as a senior consultant.

Prior to Finn, Bianchi served as interim communications director at The New York Times, where he collaborated with editorial-side senior staff on media strategy and led media relations efforts for news content.

Bianchi joins a series of additions to Finn’s various health sectors. The global health practice added Robin Pomeranz Cronin as creative director and Ivan Ruiz as a partner to its team in November, also promoting Jessica Lise to partner in December. Ryan O’Grady was promoted to partner of New York health in April.

Continuing to grow its health offering, Finn acquired international health communications firm Hyderus this year. In 2022, the agency bought health communication and marketing agency SPAG, expanding its healthcare operations to Asia. With more than $50 million in revenue, Finn said that its group is among the world’s largest independent health practices.

Finn Partners reported a revenue increase of 21% to $196 million globally and 23% to $166 million in the U.S. in 2022, according to PRWeek’s 2023 Agency Business Report
