Angelina Sciolla has held positions at CDM Princeton, Digitas Health, and, most recently, Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, where she was VP and associate creative director.

In August, she left the world of big network agencies to join the small marketing shop Benchworks as executive creative director. In the newly created role, Sciolla, who is based in the firm’s Philadelphia office, is reporting to COO Brenda Vujanic and overseeing a team of 11.

“I wanted to have a more hands-on role in terms of the direction and success of an agency,” she said.

One of Sciolla’s top priorities is to help the agency accelerate its transition from conducting executional work to becoming an agency of record.

“We want to be a strategic and creative partner to our clients,” Sciolla said. The firm’s roster includes Shire, Pfizer, and Quest Diagnostics, among other biotech and pharma companies.

Benchworks saw an estimated $10 million in revenue in 2017, down 9.1% from the previous year, while her most recent firm, Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, had an estimated $150 million in 2017 revenue, a decrease of 5.1% from the year prior.

Sciolla added that she found the move from a large agency to a smaller firm refreshing.

“You have a more immediate sense of accomplishment and satisfaction because you don’t have as many layers of people and titles,” she said. “You are able to feel like you are building something.”
