Outcast has named Julie Inouye as president.

“Every career decision I’ve ever made has been about unlocking new experiences and potential. This means I’ve spent my entire career running towards the things that make me uncomfortable,” Inouye said in a LinkedIn post announcing her role on Tuesday. “Trusting this signal has led me to my newest and biggest adventure yet — to join [CEO] Becky Porter and the incredibly talented team at Outcast as their new president.”

Porter became CEO in November following former CEO Beth McNichols’ departure in January 2023.

Inouye most recently served as SVP and head of brand and communications at Podium until 2022. She’s held consulting roles at apps VSCO and Mastodon and investment firms Kindred Ventures and Playground Global, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Before Podium, Inouye served as VSCO’s first VP and head of communications and social media. She’s also worked as senior director and head of corporate communications and marketing at LinkedIn and head of corporate communications at PlayStation.

Outcast is a subsidiary of holding company Next 15. The agency, headquartered in San Francisco, specializes in communications, digital and creative for technology companies.

Next 15 acquired Outcast for $13 million in 2005. The holding company also owns M Booth and M Booth Health, Archetype and Velocity.

Early this year, Next 15 predicted its growth would accelerate this year, driven by new business wins, after a slowdown in the second half of 2023.
