Richard Francis, CEO of Novartis’s generic unit Sandoz, is stepping down as the company begins restructuring the division. Francesco Balestrieri, currently Sandoz’s Europe region head, was appointed interim CEO.
Forma Therapeutics CEO departs
Steve Tregay, founder and CEO of Forma Therapeutics, is moving into an advisory role. Frank Lee, who previously led global product strategy and immunology, ophthalmology, and infectious disease areas at Genentech, was named CEO.

CMI/Compas chief commercial officer Susan Dorfman was promoted to president of CMI Media. John Donovan, formerly CFO, was named president of Compas.
Orchard brings on Zheng
Amgen veteran Ran Zheng hasjoined Orchard Therapeutics in the newly created role of chief technical officer. She was previously Amgen’s VP of development supply chain.
Fontenot joins Sangamo Therapeutics
Jason Fontenot has joined Sangamo Therapeutics as head of cell therapy. Previously, he served as chief scientific officer at Immusoft.
Sienna Biopharmaceuticals promotes Azoy
Sienna Biopharmaceuticals has promoted Alexander Azoy to CFO. He formerly served as the company’s controller.
