Novo Nordisk has appointed Jerzy Gruhn president of the company’s US affiliate, and SVP Novo Nordisk North America. Gruhn will replace Martin Soeters, who will take up the position as SVP European region, overseeing the company’s operations in 35 countries. Gruhn is currently vice president of the Eastern Europe region. The appointments will take effect on Jan. 1, 2008.
Nektar Therapeutics has named Lutz Lingnau to its board of directors. Lingnau most recently was a member of the executive board at Schering AG and vice chairman, president and chief executive at Schering Berlin Inc. He was formerly a member of the board at Sirna Therapeutics, which was acquired by Merck in December

Williams-Labadie, a Publicis Healthcare Communications Group company, announced three promotions and two new hires. David Diaz and Kim Panozzo were promoted to account supervisor and account service manager respectively. Colin Gildea was promoted to senior interactive developer, effective immediately. Two new writers are also joining the company–Dean Yannias, senior copywriter, and William Hyland, copywriter. Both will report into James McGuire, VP, creative director. Diaz and Panozzo were recognized for their work over the past year and will be working on the Astellas Pharma US accounts. Gildea who was promoted from interactive developer, has extensive experience in Web development and multimedia and reports into Jeff Pazen, director of interactive marketing. Yannias, an experienced technical writer will focus his efforts on Astellas Pharma US. Hyland who has a strong background in consumer goods, will work across a variety of accounts.

MEDIA
Advanstar Communications announced that James Fraleigh has been named senior editor for Advanstar’s nursing journal, RN. In a combined role, Fraleigh will be responsible for trafficking material between editorial and art departments, copy fitting and proofing layouts, managing Web site content, developing original copy, editing submissions and creating e-newsletters. Fraleigh joins Advanstar from Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, where he was senior production coordinator for up to 12 weekly and monthly titles. Prior to that, he served as senior journal production editor at Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, while providing freelance copyeditor and proofreading services.
