NEW YORK: Healthcare consultancy Rabin Martin has named Robert Mallett as CEO.
Mallett has replaced Jeffrey Sturchio, who was named chairman and an adviser to the agency. Both appointments are effective on Thursday.
Rabin Martin had been talking to Mallet for a few months, and he decided to take the position last fall.
“The reason I decided to come here is that Rabin Martin is an organization that, first of all, has a very fine reputation,” Mallett said. “It does first-rate work. Second, it has a diversity of clients doing the kind of things I found myself doing over the last two and half decades. And that is really strategically focusing on public health and trying to help companies, corporations and foundations live up to what the shareholders and others expect of them in terms of public obligations.”
He added that his first task as CEO will be getting to know the employees and clients of the agency.
Mallett will also, no doubt, familiarize himself with Porter Novelli. The two Omnicom Public Relations Group agencies began a strategic partnership last June, and as part of the deal both firms will be sharing combined locations in Midtown Manhattan and London after employees return to work.
Mallett declined to discuss specific clients but said he will look to help Rabin Martin expand its focus to issues in addition to COVID-19 that affect health like the environment and climate change. The agency will also focus, Mallett said, on new therapies as they become available, as well as oncology, heart disease and neurological diseases.
Prior to Rabin, Mallett was CEO and president of Africare, a nonprofit that works to address African development and policy issues, according to its website. An Africare representative could not be immediately reached for comment on Mallett’s departure.
Mallett has also been SVP at Pfizer, deputy secretary and acting secretary of the Department of Commerce during the Clinton administration, EVP and general counsel for the public and senior markets group at United Healthcare, and city administrator and deputy mayor of Washington, DC.
