Florida has sued Walgreens and CVS, claiming the pharmacies have contributed to the opioid crisis. The state attorney general has added the two chains to a lawsuit that names Purdue Pharma and other drugmakers. There’s a new experimental treatment for peanut allergies. The treatment, developed by Aimmune Therapeutics, lessens the effects of the allergic reaction to peanuts, but the researched noted it was not a cure for the allergy. AstraZeneca has started planning for its next chief executive. CEO Pascal Soriot is not expected to leave immediately, but pressure from shareholders has spurred the search for his replacement. Verily has halted work on glucose-measuring contact lenses for people with diabetes. In a blog post, the Alphabet company said detecting blood-sugar levels in tears is a massive challenge. The project began four years ago when Verily partnered with Novartis eye division Alcon. (CNBC)
