Longtime biotech analyst Eric Schmidt is joining CAR-T startup Allogene Therapeutics as CFO. Founded by former Kite Pharma CEO Arie Belldegrun, Allogene is thought to be headed towards an IPO. (STAT)


U.S. campaigns accounted for 42% of shortlisted entries in the Pharma Lions category at Cannes, up from one-third last year. Campaigns from Allergan, Boehringer Ingelheim, Novartis, Biogen, Pfizer, and Eli Lilly were recognized, among others. The winners will be announced on Monday. (MM&M)


A federal grand jury has indicted Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes and president Ramesh Balwani on charges of defrauding investors and deceiving patients and physicians. Holmes has also stepped down as CEO of the once-unicorn, now disgraced blood-testing company. (New York Times)
