New OTC Nexium approved

Pfizer's consumer portfolio now includes a 24-hour version of over-the-counter Nexium. The company announced Friday that the FDA greenlighted the no-prescription heartburn medication.

The company is also pursuing an OTC version of its former prescription blockbuster cholesterol medication Lipitor.

Pfizer acquired worldwide marketing rights to the non-Rx version of AZ's blockbuster proton-pump inhibitor in 2012. Deal terms called for a $250-million upfront payment.
