Co-pay cards OK for exchanges

BioCentury reports that HHS secretary Kathleen Sebelius says health exchange patients will be able to use co-pay cards. These cards have been criticized for undermining insurers' abilities to limit costs by allowing an end-run around price limits. Pharmaceutical industry advocates say the cards aid patient adherence to medication regimens. Co-pay card supporters say on-regimen patients with controlled symptoms keep the larger costs of uncontrolled conditions at bay.
