Mobile marketing budgets continue to retain their luster. A report by research firm Emarketer notes that 65% of polled marketers are upping their mobile ad budgets this year. Mobile search ads will pull in almost half of all mobile ad dollars. Marketers also plan to invest in standard mobile banner ads, mobile rich media ads and mobile video ads. A recent Pew Internet report says that 46% of American adults have smartphones,and that smartphone use is up across all ­demographics.

WebMD the Magazine is now part of the iPad app world. WebMD said Wednesday that the no-cost app and magazine subscription will be available through Apple’s Newsstand, and includes videos, slideshows and blogs that open inside the app (inaugural cover above). WebMD said in a statement that each print issue reaches 10 million readers.

Projects in Knowledge released its free HCV Care and Guidance iPhone/iPad app. The hepatitis C app provides peer-reviewed education about direct-acting antiviral treatments and updated HCV infection information. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that more than 4 million Americans have chronic viral hepatitis B or C.
