Nature Publishing launched an iPhone app allowing users to access the full text of all Nature and Nature News content free as an introductory offer until April, provided they register on Nature.com. The app also gives users access to abstracts from PubMed on their iPhone or iPod Touch. Users can read full text articles immediately or save them for later, search nature.com, set up saved searches or browse the latest news and research.
Medical publisher Slack Inc. named Joan-Marie Stiglich SVP. She will be responsible for Slack News Group, the division comprised of Slack’s specialty medicine and surgery and related science titles. Stiglich was previously VP publishing operations, and before that was director of the custom publishing group and editor in chief of the Ocular Surgery News Group.
Elsevier announced it has redesigned AORN Journal, the official journal of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses. The 47-year-old title got new columns looking at technology and clinical issues, along with continuing education content, online topic collections and pre-press online articles, along with a bigger 8.5 x 11 format and larger, crisper type.
