Average marketing research salaries in 2011 are up, according to MM&M‘s 25th Annual Career & Salary Survey.

Pay for research directors jumped 16.8% to $155,300, while managers’ wages rose 14.6% to $100,400, and analysts’ earnings jumped 17.2% to $68,200. 

More directors said they are at least generally content in their jobs (81.3% vs. 50.0% last year); fewer analysts (60.0% vs. 75.0% last year) and managers (66% vs. 80% a year ago) did so.

More managers (75%) and analysts (60%) said they will likely change jobs this year (vs. 20% and 37.5% last year, respectively), citing such factors as advancement and work environment. The number of directors saying they are searching for a new post was flat at 31.3%.

The survey, fielded in July and August, was an online questionnaire including 16 research directors, 12 managers and five analysts. At least 60% of respondents in each job cohort works for a manufacturer.
