MAP Pharmaceuticals announced that Stephen Shrewsbury has been promoted to chief medical officer a newly created position. Dr. Shrewsbury most recently served as the company’s VP, clinical and regulatory affairs. He will be the principal medical advisor and head of all medical staff, responsible for overseeing all medical and business components of the clinical development process, strategy and clinical plans to optimize the advancement of the company’s technology, and serving as the company’s medical spokesperson. Prior to joining the company, Dr. Shrewsbury served as senior director of clinical development at Chiron Corporation, working on inhaled antibiotics for cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis (AECB) and Chiron’s in-licensed aerosol cyclosporin for preventing lung transplant rejection. Before Chiron, Dr. Shrewsbury held the positions of Director and Senior Clinical Program Head of Respiratory Clinical Development at GlaxoSmithKline, where he led the inhaled steroid (Flovent HFA) and global Upper Respiratory Inflammatory Disease development programs, as well as contributing to both Advair Diskus and Advair HFA New Drug Application submissions.

Patient education marketing firm HealthEd announced that five new staff members have joined the firm. Brad Aufderheide as VP of strategic services joins from Accel Health. Dan Roteman has been hired as VP of finance from CommonHealth. David Braca joins as director of business development from Edward Newland Associates. Rachel Williams has been named director, group copy supervisor from Eden Communications Group and Bruce Benway joins associate creative director from LLNS.

Pharmaceutical marketing and communications executive, Theresa Lukey, has joined Patient Marketing Group as VP, strategic consulting services.  Prior to PMG, Lukey  served as VP, interactive services at Ferrara & Company, a leading provider of marketing services to the packaged goods industry; senior marketing strategist at the Cadient Group and VP, strategic planning at Harte-Hanks.

Arista Marketing Associates, a Publicis Healthcare Communications Group company, has promoted Kara Ulmer, PharmD to director of training and quality assurance (QA). In her position, Ulmer will manage all aspects of training inside healthcare representatives as well as management of QA processes, including developing and implementing QA programs and coordinating on-site training.
