Throughout her career, Sierra Bodor has pushed the field of public health communications to new creative heights, pioneering innovative and impactful approaches to complex health problems. By engaging audiences in grassroots and unorthodox ways, Bodor has raised the bar on what public health communications can and should mean.

After decades of research, in 2023 the first RSV vaccines were approved for older adults — an age group largely unaware of their RSV risk. To help raise awareness about RSV, Bodor crafted an authentic campaign, Sideline RSV, through strategic partnerships with the YMCA and basketball legend Magic Johnson. Bolstered by the grassroots efforts of local public health advocacy organizations, events at four local YMCAs drew an audience of nearly 500 people over the age of 60 as well as major media outlets in each city. In just eight months, the campaign generated a jaw-dropping 1.55 billion impressions, 72,000 website visits and 131 pieces of original news coverage.
